The Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramic (CEREC) technology has transformed dental treatments by meeting the needs of patients more conveniently. Gone are the days when the patient had to make multiple dental visits to undertake a restoration. At Red Rock Dental, we use CEREC technology to make digital impressions of the teeth and fabricate a ceramic restoration which we can place on the same day. Through CEREC, we can save more of the healthy teeth to give our patients beautiful, durable, tooth-colored restorations that have no metal parts.
What Are Some Benefits of Same-Day CEREC Crowns?
The dental crown can be placed in a single appointment lasting for an hour. No follow-up visit is required. You won’t need to take extra time off work or alter your plans in any way.
The need for physical impressions is eliminated in CEREC crowns. The miniature digital camera used in your mouth can capture the entire area and send the image to the computer in a matter of seconds. As a result, no more gagging on impression material while you wait for it to harden.
CEREC same-day crowns also keep your teeth healthy as they require less drilling and save more of your tooth's structure.
Temporary crowns can be extremely uncomfortable and make eating difficult. With CEREC, no temporary crown is needed; only the permanent crown made, designed, and milled precisely for you will be fitted.
- Aesthetically Matches Natural Teeth
CEREC creates ceramic crowns that look, feel, and function like a regular tooth.
What Is the Procedure For CEREC Same-Day Crowns?
The CEREC procedure begins with the preparation of the tooth. A local anesthetic is applied to numb the tooth to decrease the pain. The tooth is then entirely reshaped to fit the crown's size and shape by removing a small portion of its enamel. Once the tooth is prepared, its new digital impressions are taken. The CEREC impression system includes an intraoral scanner that captures several images of your mouth in a matter of seconds. The CEREC software then combines these pictures into three-dimensional images of the teeth and gums.
The next stage involves the use of digital representation to create the new crown. Once the patient is pleased with the design of the crown, the fabrication process begins with the digital image transferred to the CEREC milling unit. At this milling unit, an exact and well-fitting crown matching the digital design dimensions is fabricated. After the crown is ready, it is polished and secured into the patient's mouth. The crown is permanently cemented into position after carrying out the necessary adjustments.
